The server crash of 2021 kept PosterBurner offline for 3 days.
But we got lucky.
We were able to recover all the data.
(If you missed that story its here)
We learned some hard knock lessons, and we used those to upgrade our whole setup.
But after that ordeal, I looked like this guy.
I needed a vacation.
So I setup a weekend getaway to the Appalachian mountains.
Before I left, I had to make a couple last minute fixes to the website.
I made the changes, pushed them live, and hit the road towards Cherokee, North Carolina.
And Cherokee is awesome.
I saw this waterfall
I hiked this trail.
And the views looked like this.
It was a perfect weekend.
But what I didn't know was that right before I left, I made a mistake.
I copied one line of code, and then I pasted it in the wrong place.
While I was hiking, waterfall watching, and enjoying nature, Google was being trained - mistakenly - that no one liked PosterBurner.
And Google learns fast.
By the time I got back, the traffic on PosterBurner was half of what it was before I left.
Our ads had stopped serving.
And 10 years of work had been snuffed out over the course of a weekend.
It was a dire situation.
But sometimes mistakes and misfortune can make you better.
You get backed into a corner, and the only way out is to do something new and different - something you wouldn't have done unless you were trapped.
And that's what we did.
I'll explain how in the next post.
Thank you and if you ever have any questions, just let us know!
