I was on IMDB looking for a good movie to watch, and I came across one of my all-time favorites from 1990 (Dances with Wolves). This started me wondering how many other iconic films, and movie posters, were made in 1990. So, I looked it up, and I was surprised to find how many great films were released that year, and how many of them I remember
I thought it would be fun to share my look back at my top 10 pics for best movies, and movie posters of 1990. How many of them do you remember?
Goodfellas
Hollywood was in love with Mafia movies in the late 1980’s and this lead to several “Made Men” movies being released in 1990. Goodfellas is my personal favorite.
Pretty Woman
The classic hooker with a heart of gold love story that made Julia Roberts a household name. Who can forget that irresistible smile and infectious laugh?

The Godfather: Part III
This threequel to the original Godfather movie was a huge hit when it was released 18 years after the original Godfather. It just goes to show that the Mafia genre has fascinated generations of moviegoers.
The Hunt for Red October
The Hunt for Red October was based on a famous book by Tom Clancy. This Oscar-winning action suspense thriller stars Sean Connery and Alec Baldwin.
Home Alone
Home Alone was released during the holiday movie season in 1990. It quickly became a holiday favorite and is a must watch holiday movie in our house. By the end of the movie I actually felt sorry for the burglars.
Dances with Wolves
You can see why Dances with Wolves won 7 Oscars. It is visually stunning, with its sweeping vistas of the plains of the Dakotas. It’s not your run-of-the-mill western, and it is definitely worth a watch if you missed it the first time.
Edward Scissorhands
Johnny Depp’s moving portrayal of a shy, gentle, man with scissors for hands that tries to integrate into a small community puts this one on my list. I’m also a huge Tim Burton fan, so…
Total Recall
I admit it, I’m a total sci-fi and action movie junkie, and this one satisfied my need for both! So many cool special effects!
Awakenings
One of my favorite performances by the late Robin Williams. Have a box of tissues handy (yes, even tough guys cry at this one).
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Cowabunga dude, this TMNT was so awesome they just did a reboot. The new one was great, but I still prefer the innocence of the original.
So that’s my list of my top 10 movies of 1990. Did I miss any of your favorites?
